…i did not like this.
like, they threw all the characters and scenes in a blender and wrote a shell of a story to try to tie them all together. they threw out the structure of the original’s narrative and instead flung takuya around from moment to moment in a way that confuses him just as much as us. and admittedly i didn’t find that to be too much of a problem, because at least that’s interesting. but!…
1. WHY IS MIO EVERYWHERE
and worse, she’s the mio from the game! the one who was way more tsun-tsun than dere-dere. and she inserts herself into every other scene so that she can be offended by what she sees! why can’t she just mind her own business so that we can have some action going on?! that would honestly make the viewing experience a whole lot better, especially because…
2. WHY ARE ALL THE OTHER SEX SCENES RAPES
and they’re the ones we’d want to see the least too! ayumi and toyotomi. the imperial army and sayless (and mio because she’s here too now) (and yu-no!!). the imperial army and that other army that wasn’t in the original text but i guess they wanted to add another rape scene in there too. also, ayumi and the yakuza who are female now but still.
plus, you can tell that they invested the most effort into these scenes compared to everything else, and that to me just reads like an intensely fucked sense of priorities.
3. THE CHARACTER MOTIVATIONS ARE WEIRD
ryuuzouji was axed so mitsuki took over as the surrogate main villain, emphasis on the villain. when the opportunity strikes, mio also doubles as the villain whenever it’s convenient to niarb her out. and whenever that happens, she transforms into that boring oh-hoh-hoh sort of ojousama.
also eriko was sleeping in a bed at one point?!
3.5. THE CHARACTER MOTIVATIONS ARE NORMAL
after the anime, i forgot how much the characters are just jackasses to each other! or maybe it hits harder when you hear people voicing this stuff.
4. also i guess the last episode was just a drama episode but all the girls were naked for some reason
but, that’s also how things go in my apartment too.
5. (it didn’t even include the scene where takuya asks yu-no if she feels bad because she’s constipated…)
we love our high priestess with ibs
this ova made me feel bad, and weird, and confirmed my suspicions that japanese media portrays women as beings who say no but if you pressure them enough you’ll realize that they’re not as resolute in their refusal as they seem. and this grosses me out and somehow makes me feel fucked up too.
how many years of hrt before i stop feeling like a predator?
