the overview is intentionally obscured to discourage (though not prevent) one from trying to survey the entire terrain, and instead encourage flowing through chains of associations to see where they lead.

about prayer locket?

Prayer Locket is the opening track to moon II – Purity Route (2019), by yours truly. lyrically it’s about someone who was hurt in the past and retreated into themselves, presenting themselves now as a shadow of who they used to be, sung from the perspective of one who yearns to remember that other person in their completeness. the title was meant to evoke the image of a memento that one clutches tightly to oneself, in remembrance of someone they care about deeply.

for many of the other songs on purity route i can pin down who inspired their creation – either directly or in fragments amalgamated together – but i was never quite sure who the someone that the lyrics refer to actually is…

but i think it might’ve been about me… prayer locket was a plea to be cared about, a plea to have someone who can look through to the core of me and love me anyway.
