(apologies to totally rad)
in light of not-so-recent-anymore events, i predict that, within the next 24 months, some romantic comedy (the more disposable the better) will feature a plot arc where the female lead dumps the male lead in favor of a trans woman. she will be attractive but slightly clockable, and she’ll appear for no more than thirty minutes before the female lead breaks up with her and starts making her way back to the guy.
there are a lot of reasons why the two could end up breaking up, but all of the interesting ones would require insider knowledge that the writers would have no access to nor would they try to research for themselves. which is a shame, because there are a lot of valid reasons someone could use which would both be realistic and even funny too:
- she invites a few of her “friends from seattle” over for the weekend and they instantly try to turn it into an orgy. they try to pressure the female lead into joining too, but she is not having it
- she spends all of her free time either sleeping or playing some video game that the female lead has never even heard of. bonus points if the game’s title is in japanese only
- she’s an absolutely mentally ill mess under the surface, due to decades of trauma from every social institution she’s encountered since birth that can’t be betterhelped away
- she just can’t stop posting – about their relationship, about everything – and her compulsive content creation is tearing the relationship apart
- they were both bottoms
in reality, the female lead will break up with her trans girlfriend because there are just some desires in her heart that she needs a man to fulfill. the queer community will likely not be bothered by this outcome, and will see the trans woman as someone who deserved better anyway, kinda like how they feel about most of the non-scott pilgrim characters in scott pilgrim.
ura prediction (horrifying, much more likely to actually happen): the male lead breaks things off for the trans woman. she’ll look just like how visible trans women have been represented in every single movie and the relationship will quickly fall apart due to the same joke that’s been repeated since ace ventura 1.
