on inspiration

Inspiration isn’t acquired solely by the creator; it is breathed into the creator by the rest of the world. The world sits inside the artist until the artist spits it out one day as their own.

Those weeks, months, years where nothing gets created is NOT you stagnating and rotting away. It’s you absorbing the world. The day that you’re truly ready to create, those weeks of “inactivity” will reveal themselves to be the true driving force of your creativity.

In the end, motivation, for me, comes from my feelings. It comes from my happiness, my depression, my stagnation… it comes from being a human being. Not from trying to prove something to myself. Just from trying to be.
