★ hello nice to meet you. i feel a sort of stolen valor is happening when you take a song that’s already good and then just plaster your own additions on top of it. but i was also talking about Patricia Taxxon – Punk (2018)1 with chloe last night and how it sorta takes the same approach but in that case it’s, well, punk.
(there’s also maedasalt but she gets a pass because she processes her samples in a way that lets them float over the drums and textures ambiguously, ethereally – as if the original work is emerging from one’s memory now. it also helps that i like her as a person and she liked me too)
is this lolicore? it’s breakcore built around sped-up moe moe anime songs, so i feel like it would’ve qualified a decade ago. honestly the only things it lacks are the contempt for its listener and, um, pedigree.
