misschien ik heb een probleem.

  • the ja ja ja ja ja gets my hopes up, but the nee nee nee nee nee lets me down… every time…
  • the jas are limited to five, but the nees can often extend beyond five. so, overall, i guess it leans negative?
  • though it’s also not like he’s playing with different ways of intoning both, in order to express the multiple meanings that one can express with these literal words. instead, they feel rote, insincere… or perhaps playing with the sound rather than the intersection of that sound with language. the phonemes become phonemes to play with
  • it sounds like everyone there is having fun though, at least
    • though i am a bit curious what they’re saying every so often…
    • (how drunk are they?)

Notes

Originally released in 1970 in LP format, reissued on CD in 2001.
The LP is 48 minutes long, while the CD contains the entire unedited 65-minute work.

The recording derives from a Fluxus concert of same name in the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, 1968, and is based on a compositional idea by Henning Christiansen.
