★ andraste, zoroaster

A collection of songs recorded sometime between 2009 and 2011, some via the wonderful medium of dying cassette tape and some via my computer.

in other words:

hours of nightly screaming in the socialist-built architectural masterwork and acoustic wonderland that is the swimming hall in volda, western norway. three months spent on one useless attempt at conquest in the name of love, ten thousand awkward attempts at learning the language they speak. somewhat pubertal attempts at hiding behind a moustache. swimming in the fjord while… more

and yes there is more

there are enough triangle waves to make it entirely plausible that he took his name from the 1992 nes classic. it’s actually a neat game because the ending involves getting shot down by the girl you’re trying to save. on one hand you could read it as the priorities of men because why else would you risk your life trying to exorcise your school? education?

but that theory falls short because, uh, where is everyone else? nobody else cares about education that much, and there are plenty of other hotties out there. whoever she took to prom doesn’t care either. but he does. a lot.

which brings us to the notion that unrequited love, if acted upon, is torture for all parties. yeah, he’s infatuated with her and travels to the brink of death because, even though she doesn’t like him, maybe she might come around once she sees his sacrifice? why doesn’t she realize that nobody will love her as much as i do? but it’s also torture for her too, because she realizes how little control she has over how she’s taken. maybe she even realizes that he loves her a whole lot, but eww! why did he have to show up? of all people! couldn’t it have been someone hotter? and now whenever i see him he’s probably fantasizing about me and ew!

but it’s also torture for everyone else too, because school is back in session.

Notes

I am unsure of the actual release date of this album, seeing as the Bandcamp links have been dead for years. Those liner notes suggest the earliest possible date as logically being 2011, and this Reddit comment mentions that the album was written in 2013, so it would’ve had to have been in one of those three years.

As of 2024, I do not remember what this sounds like at all.
