because i lost my taste for the night life.

★★ a little lost. this is so haunting.
★ lucky cloud has that quarantine feel
★ hollow tree has those crunches
★ and see through love has some neat touches
★ and keeping up is growing on me lots
★ and in the light of the miracle is sooper gruvy
★ also just a blip

★★ and then i lost my taste. i don’t know what’s about it, but… it feels so odd. like it has one foot in the amateur and yet it isn’t

★ my tiger my timing and i find it hard to believe that this is the same album but it’s super catchy. you can hear his dance roots

★ a sudden chill

(also for some reason this has a couple extra songs on it. a little sampler!)

★★  being it (from world of echo). god this is beautiful. and now i guess i’ll be listening to it next

what it’s like (from love is overtaking me).

although i do have thoughts going in…

  • i think i listened to sufjan stevens’ cover of a little lost and was really disappointed by how it irons out the meter of the original, which made me think about how the the original’s rushed phrases do a lot to make it what it is. ultimately he comes off as kind of a geeky quirky fellow who likes you so much the thoughts just rush out of him, like he’s babbling in your presence. but that’s what makes him charming, and so lovable! he’s socially awkward and very much imperfect, but might just be perfect for you.

  • i’ve written this somewhere but i’m pretty sure i like him more as a concept than as a musician. maybe one day that’ll change.

★ hollow tree. i like that distorted cello sound.
