bring back the rating system? memex
i do think this aspect of rym helped me identify how much i really liked the things i like, in a way that a “favorite!” tag doesn’t fully capture.
plus, i could expand it for anime and other media too.
a table for you
5pt | 10pt | ★ | ?! |
---|---|---|---|

comparing tables
5/10pt
-
PROS
- every album has its place
- (5pt)
i don’t know if fractionals are valid yaml(nvm they can be and it’d be ok)
-
CONS
- (10pt): i’ve been trained to see 7 and below as “failing grades” in a sense, and i don’t know if i can give a 5 to something that i generally enjoyed!
- when it’s just me, does it really matter if something is a 2.5 compared to a 2.0? will these data ever be useful?
stars
- PROS
- after checking rym, it looks like only 22% of my albums rated have at least a 3.5. so, it’d be much less overhead to manage.
- positive rating systems are pretty cash money imo.
- having something in the header like
stars: 2
is easy to include and easy to query. - i can still muck about and move things around within the star region.
- semi-parity with hydrus rating system, and i’m all about maintaining semi-parity.
- more complete parity with track rating system
- after checking rym, it looks like only 22% of my albums rated have at least a 3.5. so, it’d be much less overhead to manage.
weird conlang
- PROS
- nothing, really.
- i could honestly just give the stars those names anyway.
- nothing, really.
star types
i’ve noticed that ★★★★ takes up a lot of space, so maybe that’s worth compressing in tables?

TODO: See how ⭐ renders on different systems.
it’s also not much different from 🌟…
